All You Need to Know about the EGR Nordics Awards 2023

On the 23rd of February 2023, Malta will be hosting this year's EGR Nordics Awards.

As the name of the event implies, the yearly occasion celebrates the milestones of several online gaming companies that originate majorly from Scandinavian countries.

A ceremony such as this one gives the community a clear idea of which are the most trustworthy and proficient names leading the industry. We are in great anticipation of the outcome of the awards this year.

Why Malta?

Malta is the perfect location for these awards to take place.

Many of the shortlisted organisations have a base there and follow the regulations regarding online gambling set by the MGA: the Malta Gambling Authority, such as:

• Quickspin

• Betsson Group

• Casumo

• Relax Gaming

This license is one of the most reliable ones available.

In just a couple of years, this little Mediterranean island has become a hub for online gambling. Various events which have become traditions for this community are hosted there annually, such as the SiGMA World Gaming Festival in 2022.

The EGR Nordics Awards 2023

The focus of the awards ceremony is rewarding online gambling companies for their efforts, especially when it comes to efficiency, creativity and innovation.

Nominees are also competing for titles related to marketing strategies, customer support service and overall performance throughout the year, among others.

This year, two new awards are waiting to be claimed:

• Employer of the Year

• Diversity and Inclusion Model

The latter one really caught our eye.

In an article from 2021, EGR noted the need for more diverse representation in not only the product of online casino companies but also their personnel, regarded to be majorly composed of men.

Two years later, we are curious to discover which of the only two nominated organisations for the title have displayed the meriting improvement: Betsson Group or PAF.

The awards are not only necessary to applaud online casino companies for their work but are an important social centre where involved members of the community can network.

This is a very exclusive event, reserved for companies who are subscribed to EGR's services and community members who were on time making a booking to sit at one of the event's tables.

The 2023 edition will take place in one of Malta's many luxury hotels with Irish comedian Keith Farnan as the host.

A briefing surrounding important topics relevant to the world of igaming will precede the event. The schedule includes talks about the evolution of igaming in Scandinavian countries and the Swedish License System.

How are the Winners Decided?

This event's judging system is very fair and seems like every year the results are trustworthy.

To avoid conflict of interest, no one from EGR actually has a say in the judging process as the nominees are clients of the organisation.

An external team of judges is invited to provide their expertise, which ensures that the thought process behind the choice of the winners is impartial and unbiased.

The judges are unknown to the nominees and tho those of us who are interested to keep up to date with what's going on until after the winners are announced. At the end of the ceremony, a list of winners and the judges' comments is published on EGR's website.

It is necessary for the panel of judges to come from varying backgrounds since the awards differ greatly in genre and touch on various topics as we mentioned above. Each judge will only be deciding on winners for categories relevant to their own competence.

Finally, the scores are determined by a judging platform. This year, Deloitte is the event's judging and voting officiate.

Many of the industry's top providers and casinos are nominated for awards in this event, a few of which we are rather familiar with and often discuss in our reviews and posts.

This is a really exciting event for us to learn which of these companies is dominating the industry - who to look out for for the best services and products.
