Playtech & FanDuel Sign Landmark Deal to push Live Casino Content in Canada

Reputable gaming operator Playtech and gambling company FanDuel have joined forces in an agreement to a strategic partnership that will push branded live casino content in Canada. 

The news pertaining to the signing of this landmark deal came very recently, marking the upcoming expansion of Playtech across the Canadian iGaming market. 

On October 25th, 2023, Playtech announced its collaboration with “the premier online gaming company in North America, FanDuel, launching branded Live Casino content on their Canadian platform.” 

Playtech went on to say the following: 

“The deal is a key milestone for both companies, as Fan Duel solidifies its position as a premium provider of online casino experiences and builds its Live Casino offering in Canada and Playtech continues its expansion across North America.” 

This expansion follows that of the live casino studios that Playtech has recently built, including those constructed for Adventures Beyond Wonderland and Big Bad World. 

Part of this deal includes an agreement on behalf of Playtech to build a Live Casino studio that will serve FanDuel Canada, thus providing exceptionally high-quality casino games for players of FanDuel in Ontario, Canada. 

Amongst these, gamers can expect a selection of Live Dealer Games that will include table games such as Roulette, All Bets Blackjack, Baccarat, and 7-Seater Blackjack. 

In addition to this, this landmark deal also includes the forthcoming expansion of this Live Casino studio to other provinces in Canada. 

In this way, this partnership appears to be very promising, allowing ample room, as well as flexibility, for future expansion.

Surge in iGaming revenue in Ontario 

The Market Performance Report for the second quarter of the 2023-2024 fiscal year has been released by iGaming Ontario (iGO), a subsidiary of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). 

Here, it was reported that 14.2 billion Canadian Dollars were wagered in the period of time between July 1st and September 30th, 2023. 

The report also stated that a total revenue of $540 million Canadian Dollars was accrued. 

This results in an increase of 105% over Q2 last year, but a decline of 8.3% from Q1 of the same year. 

In addition to this, the number of active player accounts in the Ontario gaming market increased from 920,000 in Q1 of last year, to 943,000. 

There was a slight decrease in the average monthly spending per player account, with Q1 of last year resulting in $197 CAD, and dropping to $191 CAD this year. 

Additionally, the market performance report indicated that there was a slight increase in the number of licensed gaming operators, from 46 to 47. 

With regards to the number of gaming websites available in Ontario, on the other hand, these remained the same, resulting in a total of 71.
