Blackjack is the most popular card game played at online casinos. The principle is simple enough to understand, and thousands of players flock to the various tables every day to take on a dealer.
Contrary to popular belief, blackjack is a highly strategic game.
We've been playing blackjack for several years now, and we've decided to share our tips with you.
We'd like to remind you that, whatever strategy you employ, the casino wins in the long run.
Respecting the board
Without a doubt, this is the most widely used tool in blackjack to help you avoid making mistakes: the blackjack board. Based on probabilities, it helps you reduce your chances of losing money.
Of course, following the table is no guarantee of victory. Blackjack is a game of chance, so the table is not a perfect science.
It will help you avoid mistakes such as:
Not splitting a pair of 8s (except against an AS)
Not doubling an 11 against a 4/5/6
So many examples can be given of hands lost needlessly, because people don't follow the chart.
If you're not familiar with it, here's the blackjack chart we made.
Learn how to manage your bets
Bankroll management is very important in blackjack.
Whatever your bankroll, we recommend that you never bet more than 10% of its value.
When it comes to side bets, the way you bet is also different.
If you decide to play on both sides: the value of the latter must not exceed 20% of your bet. For example, if you bet 20 dollars, we recommend you place 18 dollars in the center, and 1 dollar on each side.
If you start to lose a lot of hands, we advise you not to change the value of your bet, even if your balance drops.
On the contrary, if you start winning hands, you can increase your bet.
However, it should never exceed 15% of your bankroll.
Even if you're feeling confident, keep in mind that a single hand of blackjack can wipe out all your previous winnings. Keep your cool.
Set yourself limits and goals. For example, if you manage to double your balance, don't hesitate to withdraw money.
Is card counting a winning technique?
No, counting cards is not a winning technique. Even if the movie Las Vegas 21 makes you dream, it no longer represents today's reality.
It's absolutely impossible to count cards in online casinos, for two reasons:
A deal deck contains 8 decks of cards
Cards are shuffled as soon as the middle of the deck has been reached.
Whether you're at a private table or with other people, it makes no difference how the cards are shuffled.
Techniques you must observe
In blackjack, there are certain rules you absolutely must follow. Failure to do so could have a major impact on your final result.
Always reach 17, unless the dealer has a card between 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
Never stop at 16 when the dealer has a card between 7, 8, 9, 10, and AS.
Never split cards with a value of 10.
A pair of Aces and 8s are split, regardless of what the dealer has.
The player must double if the value of the cards is between 9 and 11. Pay attention to the value of the dealer's cards.
The last technique we recommend is not necessarily compulsory. It depends on how you feel at the time.
Basic blackjack strategy
The basic blackjack strategy is the blackjack board. If we could give you just one piece of advice, it would be this.
Knowing it, but above all respecting it, is essential. In the long term, it's supposed to help you reduce your losses to the casino.
Of course, blackjack is a game of chance. This means that just because you respect 100% of the table, it doesn't mean that you'll always be a winner.
The Martingale strategy
The Martingale strategy isn't solely used in roulette. The principle is very simple:
Every time you lose a hand, you double your initial bet until you win another.
We strongly advise against using it. If luck isn't on your side, you could very quickly gamble away large sums of money to recover just a few dollars.
What's more, the vast majority of online casinos won't let you use this technique.
An online casino site may even refuse your withdrawal request if it sees that you've used the Martingale technique.
The Double Down strategy
The Double Down strategy is fairly well-known, and only works with certain hands. For this, you'll need to follow the chart.
In it, we show you exactly which hands you should double down on. A small D will help you find your way around.
Example: you have 11, the dealer 5, you must double your hand.
This strategy is not mandatory. In fact, if you don't have the necessary balance, or if you don't feel your hand, you can simply draw.
Note that once you've doubled your hand, you won't be able to draw any more cards.
The 1326 strategy
This technique is progressive and works very easily: Each time you win, you must change your betting units to 1/3/2 and 6.
Example: we bet $10 (1 unit), we win our hand. We now have $20 (2 units), we add one more, now a $30 bet.
We win our hand, we have $60 (6 units). Since the next bet is 2 units, we bet $20. Finally, if we win this hand, we now have $40 or 4 units.
We need to add $20 (i.e. 2 units) to make a total bet of $60 (6 units).
We do not recommend this technique. To win, you absolutely must win four hands in a row. What's more, it only works if you win the hands.
As soon as you lose your first-hand, you'll have to start all over again.
Weak Dealer
Weak dealer means that your hand has a high chance of winning against the dealer's hand.
We generally use this term when you have 17/18/19/20, and the dealer has 4/5/6.
Of course, when the dealer is very likely to lose and has between 4/5, and 6, we strongly advise you to stop shooting as soon as your hand reaches at least 12.
Just because the dealer has a good chance of losing, doesn't mean that his loss is guaranteed.

Strong Dealer
A strong dealer means that the dealer is very likely to win his hand.
This is often the case when he has between 7 and AS and the value of your two cards does not exceed 16.
When you reach a card value that is under 16 and the dealer is between 7 and AS, we recommend that you draw until you reach at least 17.
As with the Weak Dealer, just because mathematically you're more likely to lose, doesn't mean you will.
What not to do in blackjack
Now that we've covered the various techniques, we'd also like to pass on a few things you shouldn't do when you're at the blackjack table.
Stop at 16 (or earlier) when the dealer has a card 7 or higher.
Don't split your pairs of 8 and A (of course, you're excused if you don't have the necessary balance)
Split your 10s or cards equal to 10.
Use the Martingale strategy.
Draw your cards when you have 17 in your hand and the dealer between 2 and 6.
There are other things not to do in blackjack, but we've decided to share just a few rules with you.
Practice playing before depositing money
Some game providers allow players to try blackjack for free.
So, before playing with real money, take the time to play with a dummy account.
First, play with the board. As the hands progress, try not to look at it.
It's only play money, so don't be afraid to make mistakes.
As soon as you feel confident, and only if you're willing and able, you can play for real money.
