The Rules of Ultimate Poker

Ultimate poker is a game mode derived from the famous Texas Hold'em poker.

Texas Hold'em is played with two-hole cards for each player at the table and five open cards, revealed as the hand progresses, for the whole table. We have the three-card flop, then the one-card turn, and finally the one-card river.

Each player must, with his two cards and the five on the table, obtain the best combination of cards to win the hand. Find ultimate poker at Playfina Casino, and many more!

Ultimate poker is slightly different from regular poker. Here, you're no longer playing against other players, but against the dealer.

The aim of ultimate poker

The aim is simple. You have to get your hands on a better combination of cards than that held by the dealer.

The value of combinations

In the combinations section, you'll find the same combinations available in all poker derivatives. From highest to lowest:

  • Royal Flush

  • Straight Flush

  • Square

  • Full House

  • Color

  • Straight

  • Three of a Kind

  • Double Pair

  • Pair

  • Height

Depending on how much you bet and how much you hit during a game, you'll be paid out a certain number of times over.

How to bet in ultimate poker

When you start a game of ultimate poker, you'll need to place an even-money bet on the Ante and Blind boxes.

You can also place a bet on the Trips box, which only takes into account your card combination and not whether or not you manage to win against the dealer.

How does an ultimate poker game work?

After betting, the dealer deals you two cards and two cards for himself, face down. Based on these first two cards, you'll have to choose between these two decisions:

  • Put three or four times the amount of your Ante on the Play square

  • Check

Next, the dealer draws three community cards that make up the flop. If you didn't choose to triple or quadruple your Ante on the previous turn, you have other choices:

  • Put twice the amount of your Ante on the Play box

  • Check

The dealer turns over the two remaining community cards, called the turn and river respectively. If you didn't choose to double your Ante on the previous turn, you have two final choices:

  • Put the amount of your Ante once in the Play box

  • Fold

Finally, the dealer turns over his cards, and whoever has the best combination of cards between him and you wins the hand. At this stage, several cases are possible:

  1. The blind win is determined by the strength of the hand.

  2. The dealer qualifies if he has at least one pair.

How does the trip bet work?

Before the start of a game, you can add an additional wager to your initial wager on the Trips box. This bet takes into account the strength of your hand.

If you hit at least three of a kind, you'll be paid a certain number of times your Trips bet. As mentioned above, you don't have to win the hand to get paid on Trips.

Ultimate poker table

Ultimate poker is a mathematically winning casino game for the casino. The theoretical payout is 99.47%, not counting the bets you make on Trips. Betting on Trips has a theoretical payout of 96.50%.

As you can see, the main game is much more interesting to play on its own than with Trips. However, you need to play a perfect game to achieve this payout rate. Here's a table that reduces the casino's advantage by plus or minus 1%.

Ultimate poker strategies

Pre-flop strategy

When the dealer deals you your two cards, you'll have to choose between quadrupling, tripling, or checking.

The table we've shared with you above outlines the actions you should take before the flop, depending on your starting hand. In all cases, the x3 bet should be removed from your mind. The only decisions you need to consider are whether to bet x4 or check.

Post-flop strategy

After the flop, there's really no strategy to adopt. If you hit a pair or more, you can decide to play the x2 bet, or check if you don't hit anything.

Of course, if you don't hit anything at all until the river, it's advisable to fold. Unless you've got an interesting high, which is unlikely, as interesting highs are often played x4 before the flop.
